St. Anne’s Catholic Primary School

Mission Statement

Mission Statement:

“Loving God In All We Do”

St. Anne’s is a Catholic Primary School in Ormskirk, serving the parishes of St. Mary’s, Aughton and St. Anne’s, Ormskirk. We work in partnership with parishes and parents to provide the best possible education for our young people aged between 4 and 11, building on the foundations laid in Pre – School and local nurseries and preparing for their future development at the Catholic High School (or other Secondary School establishments.)

We believe that the ethos of the school must in all its spiritual, moral and cultural aspects reflect the teachings of Christ in the Gospels, in accordance with the rites, practices and teachings of the Catholic Church.

Aim:

Our aim is to provide a high quality Christian Education based upon the teachings of Christ in the gospels, recognising the uniqueness of each member of our school, enabling every one of them to  develop his or her gifts and talents to the full.

In order to achieve this we:

  •  Promote a welcoming, happy, lively and caring environment within which each individual can develop his or her own physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual potential to the full, and at his or her own pace and level.

We try to achieve this in school by:

  • displaying the children's work in a celebratory way
  • making our awards assembly a celebration of personal and academic achievements
  • fostering strong relationships with all members of our school community
  • setting high standards of work and behaviour
  • providing the children with differentiated work and individual targets.
  • caring for our environment.

Nurture and develop the special nature of our Catholic school.

We try to achieve this in school by:

  • our acts of daily worship
  • the joyful celebration of the liturgy
  • communicating the Christian message of love, justice, tolerance and respect as the basis of all relationships.
  • our home/school/parish links

Create a 'welcoming' school, with honest and open communication, in which to work in co-operation with our parents in an atmosphere of mutual respect and friendship.

We try to do achieve this in school by:

  • listening to parents and acting on information received
  • the involvement of parents with homework and in reading
  • regular newsletters
  • our school website
  • information evenings for parents
  • our active and very supportive SAPTA group

Foster a caring partnership between home and school.

We try to achieve this in school by:

  • Inviting our parents to year group ‘Welcome’ meetings in September
  • Inviting our parents to two parents evenings per year
  • Inviting our parents to an induction evening for parents of children entering into Reception
  • Always being accessible to parents
  • Providing our parents with half termly Knowledge Organisers and termly RE newsletters
  • Inviting our parents to Open Afternoons, where they are invited to come and share the children’s work with them.
  • Inviting our parents to share in the Whole School masses with their children.

Acknowledge that each person is a unique individual and to respect the dignity of each individual irrespective of circumstance, gender, race or creed.

We try to achieve this in school by:

  • promoting equal opportunities for all our pupils
  • delivering effectively our R.E. scheme 'Come and See'
  • celebrating our Mission Statement award during awards assembly, which is given for children ‘living out’ our school Mission Statement of ‘Loving God In All We Do.’

Provide opportunities for each individual to develop his / her talents to their fullest potential.

We try to achieve this in school by:

  • our Special Educational Needs Policy and the use of outside agencies when necessary
  • providing extra-curricular activities
  • organising school trips
  • our staff development programme
  • one to one work with support staff focusing on children’s individual targets and needs

Develop and maintain an active partnership with the parish, the home, the school governors, as well as offering support to organisations and groups in the wider community at large.

We try to achieve this in school by:

  • celebrating whole school masses, both in school and in church;
  • sharing our Harvest Festival celebration with the parishioners of St. Anne’s
  • inviting our school, parents and wider community to share in our Christmas Nativity and concerts
  • our liaison with St. Bede's High School
  • our support of outside charities such as CAFOD, Nugent Care Macmillan Cancer Care, to name but a few.
  • the actions of SAPTA
  • our communications with all members of our school community
  • linking with local care homes, where we take the choir singing at Christmas and invite them to our Remembrance Assembly.

Children’s Objectives:

The children’s ‘objectives’ are shared with them. They are also displayed on the Mission Statement banners which appear in every classroom and ‘shared area’ in the school.
