School Meals

The school kitchen is run by Lancashire County Commercial Services. The meals are all prepared on site using only high quality ingredients and represent excellent value for money; as such we encourage as many children as possible to take a lunchtime meal.

All children are offered a choice of meals on a daily basis. A choice of hot meals are available each day but your child may also choose sandwiches or wraps. Your child may choose to bring a packed lunch but we encourage all children to bring healthy food for their lunch.

For Key Stage 2 children school meals will cost £2.40 a day. We would be grateful if all dinner money could be paid on a Monday morning. Please make any cheques payable to St Anne's Catholic Primary School or use our Parent Pay system.

Although children in Key Stage 1 will receive a free school meal through the new initiative we would still encourage any parent who thinks that they may be entitled to free school meals, via the previous school meals system, to contact the Pupil Access Team on 01772 533608, who will be able to advise you if you qualify. The school receives additional funding to support the educational needs of children who qualify for free school meals so it is important to claim, even if your child is currently in Key Stage 1.

We are a healthy school and as such we encourage healthy eating.  Key Stage 1 children are provided with a piece of fruit and Key Stage 2 children are encouraged to bring fruit from home.  No crisps, chocolate or sweets are allowed at break times.

We encourage all children to drink water during the school day as research shows that it improves mental performance and increases concentration and attention span.  Water bottles may be brought into school and children may refill their water bottles from the sinks in each classroom during the day.

If your child has a food allergy it is very important that you inform the office and record the information on the data collection form each year.  This will allow us to put the appropriate procedures into place to ensure the health and safety of your child.
